Dresses & Bonnets

Easter Memories…dresses-bonnets

When I was a little girl I remember my grandma would always sew Easter dresses for my sister and I with a bonnet we would also always get new shoes – patent leather I loved the shine and the way I could tap dance on the floor. Most of the time my grandma take enough cloth so both my sister and I would have the same look.  My little sister was 4 years younger than I was so we certainly didn’t look like twins.

Now 45 years later when I think about that I miss my grandma who was always there for me when I needed her. She was the salt of the earth and a straight shooter –being from Texas she always had funny colorful sayings.

I remember she would always get upset if I didn’t wear an apron to cook she must have made me a dozen aprons – today I have one hung up in my kitchen and I wear it “see grandma I did hear you”…

I sure miss her.

Top 5 Regrets

In my younger years, I was very ambitious my first priorities were my kids, but I really worked hard to build a business that would thrive, and I threw myself into my work.  Things are different now – I don’t have the drive the way I use to.

I don’t know if it was the death of my mom and dad who made me realize I needed to reassess things or my husband being diagnosed with Parkinsonism.  I now feel I want to slow down and just take a deep breath. I am yearning to do the things I 5 regrets of the dyinghaven’t done literally in years things I am passionate about like – oil painting, drawing, reading books I love not books to keep up with my industry.

I would love to be able to write a book of experiences or poetry and make enough money to live comfortably. I have written e-books on SEO and other business-related  things but what I really love to write about is life, thoughts, passions and emotions.

But then reality sets in and I realize I need to do what I am an expert at. I want to retire with enough money to be able to travel and do the things I love. I came across some information about what people regret when they die and this just solidified my thoughts.

Top 5 Regrets of the Dying

  1. I wish would have had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
  2. I wish I had not worked so hard.
  3. I wish I would have had the courage to express my feelings.
  4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
  5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

After reading the regrets of those that have gone before us what do you think, about your own life, the path you are on right this second?

Are you at a place where you will have no regrets or do you need to adjust your life so you will be satisfied when the time comes?…

Conversation about Growing Older

I ran across this video on YouTube at first I thought it was a little corny, but as I listened, it really caused me to think.

How many of you are comfortable with your mortality?  As young people, we never give it a thought as we get older we need to come to grips with it. It is important (and difficult) to embrace our age. This video has given me food for thought.  Watch it I believe if you are of a certain age it will do the same for you.
